AB  - Matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) , which is induced by inflammatory cytokines 
      such as interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) in 
      rheumatoid synovium, degrades a number of extracellular matrix components of 
      cartilage, and plays central roles in rheumatoid joint destruction. In addition, 
      serum MMP-3 level is a clinically useful maker for predicting joint destruction 
      and for disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) . In this review, I 
      summarized the role of MMP-3 in rheumatoid joint destruction, and clinical 
      usefulness of serum MMP-3 level as a laboratory marker in RA.
